Ella Fitzgerald fue una cantante de jazz estadounidense, considerada una de las mayores voces del jazz de la historia. Comenzó su carrera en el Savoy Ballroom en Harlem en 1934 y grabó por primera vez con la big band de Chick Webb en 1935. Fitzgerald firmó con Decca Records en 1936 y grabó varios álbumes allí, incluyendo "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" y "The Cole Porter Songbook". Salió de gira con la banda de Benny Goodman en 1938 y lanzó su primer álbum en solitario, "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook", en 1956. Fitzgerald fue nombrada "La Primera Dama del Jazz" por la revista DownBeat en 1960.
