Muse is a British alternative rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band consists of Matt Bellamy (chant, guitar, piano), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, vocals) and Dominic Howard (drums). Their music is known for its energetic and powerful sound, blending elements of rock, metal, and classical music.
The band achieved international success with their albums Absolution (2003), Black Holes and Revelations (2006), and The 2nd Law (2012). They have sold over 20 million albums worldwide and have been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, including two nominations for the prestigious Album of the Year award. In 2010, they were ranked as the second-best rock band in the world by Rolling Stone magazine.
Muse was formed in 1994 by Matt Bellamy, Christopher Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard while they were still in high school. Their debut album, Showbiz, was released in 1999, followed by Origin of Symmetry in 2001. Their third album, Absolution, was released in 2003 and topped the UK charts. Their fourth album, Black Holes and Revelations, was released in 2006 and was certified double platinum in the UK. Their fifth album, The Resistance, was released in 2009 and was certified platinum in the UK. Their sixth album, The 2nd Law, was released in 2012 and was certified gold in the UK.
Muse has also released two live albums, Hullabaloo Soundtrack in 2002 and Absolution Tour in 2005. In 2006, they launched their own label, Helium-3, and released their first album, Origin of Symmetry. In 2007, they released their second live album, HAARP.
In 2010, Muse was ranked as the second-best rock band in the world by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2012, they were ranked as the fourth-best rock band in the world by the magazine.
