BIOGRAPHY

Les Rita Mitsuko is a French music artist born on October 6th, 1951 in Paris. She is considered a pioneer of electronic music in France. Her early works, influenced by American minimalist music, German krautrock, and French musique concrète, were released on French labels such as Les Disques du Crépuscule and Les Disques du Soleil et de l'Acier. In 1986, she signed with the English label Virgin Records and released her first international album, The No Comprendo, which reached the Top 40 in the UK. She continued to explore new musical territories with her following albums, including experimental jazz (1989) and techno music (1991). In 1995, she joined the Japanese label Avex Trax and released her first Japanese album, Rita Mitsuko, which was a commercial success. She then released several albums in Japanese, including the double live album Rita Mitsuko no Yume wa Yoru Hiraku (1996) and the studio album Rita Mitsuko no Tame ni (1998). In 2000, she resumed her career in France with the studio album Le ciel est bleu, le soleil est rose, which was critically acclaimed. She then released two live albums, Rita Mitsuko en concert (2001) and Rita Mitsuko à l'Olympia (2002). In 2003, she was appointed Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters. In 2006, she released her first studio album in five years, L'amour est un oiseau rebelle, which was critically acclaimed. In 2011, she released her fourteenth studio album, Je t'aime... moi non plus, which was a commercial success. She then released two live albums, Rita Mitsuko en concert au Japon (2012) and Rita Mitsuko en concert en Europe (2013). In 2016, she released her fifteenth studio album, Les chansons de l'innocence et de l'expérience, which was critically acclaimed.
