Gladys Knight

BIOGRAPHY

Gladys Knight is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer. She is known for her work with R&B group The Pips, with whom she recorded numerous hits such as "Neither One of Us (Wants to Be the First to Say Goodbye)" and "Midnight Train to Georgia". Knight began her musical career at the age of four, singing in her father's church. She later signed with Motown Records in 1961, where she released her first single, "Guess Who". In 1973, Knight left Motown and joined Buddah Records, where she released her first solo album, "I Feel a Song". The album was a commercial success, reaching the fourth spot on the Billboard 200 and selling over a million copies. Knight continued to release solo albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s, but she also resumed her career with The Pips in 1975. In 1996, Knight was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Pips. She was also honored by the Kennedy Center in 2007.
