BIOGRAPHY
Beautiful South is a British pop music group formed in 1988 by former members of the new wave group The Housemartins. The group consists of Dave Hemingway (vocals), Alison Wheeler (vocals), Sean Welch (bass), David Rotheray (guitar), and Damon Butcher (keyboards).
The group achieved commercial success with the singles "A Little Time" and "Perfect 10", both reaching the top 10 of the UK charts. Their debut album, Welcome to the Beautiful South, was certified gold in the UK. Their second album, Choke, reached number two on the UK charts and was certified platinum. Their third album, Miaow, reached number four on the UK charts and was certified gold.
The group disbanded in 2007, but reunited for a tour in 2010. In 2013, the group released a new album, Sweet Refrain.
