LSG, also known as Luther Ronzoni Vandross, Jr., is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor born on April 20, 1951, in New York.
Vandross began his career in 1971 as a backup singer for the R&B group of David Bowie, The Main Ingredient. He then went on to record several solo albums, including his first two, "Never Too Much" (1981) and "Forever, For Always, For Love" (1982), which both topped the Billboard 200. Vandross also achieved success as a producer and songwriter for other artists, such as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Dionne Warwick, and Barbra Streisand.
In 2001, Vandross was diagnosed with a heart disease, which forced him to take a break from his career. He passed away on July 1, 2005, in New York at the age of 54.
Throughout his career, Vandross sold over 30 million albums in the United States and approximately 80 million albums worldwide. He was named one of the "100 greatest singers of all time" by Rolling Stone and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
