Moby, born Richard Melville Hall, is an American musician, DJ, songwriter, and photographer, born on September 11, 1965 in Harlem, New York. He is best known for his experimental approach to electronic music and was a pioneer of the rave scene in the United States in the early 1990s. His debut solo album, self-titled, was released in 1992. However, it was with the album "Play" released in 1999 that Moby achieved international fame. The tracks on the album, featuring traditional African-American chants, were widely used in commercials, films, and television shows, making "Play" one of the best-selling albums of all time. Moby is also known for his advocacy for animal rights and the environment, and is a staunch advocate for veganism. Author of several books on these subjects, he is also the owner of a vegan restaurant in Los Angeles called "Little Pine". In 2008, Moby released a remix album of his greatest hits, titled "Go - The Very Best of Moby". Since then, he has continued to release albums regularly, each exploring new genres and musical styles. Moby is a versatile and influential artist who has left his mark on the music scene over the past three decades. His work in the music industry, as well as his activism for animal rights and the environment, make him a respected and appreciated artist on a global scale.
