Foster the People is an American indie band formed in 2009 in Los Angeles. The band consists of Mark Foster (lead vocals, guitar, keys), Cubbie Fink (bass), and Mark Pontius (drums).
The band released their first album, "Torches", in 2011. The album reached the fifth spot on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold by the RIAA. The album's lead single, "Pumped Up Kicks", reached number one on the Alternative Songs chart and was certified platinum by the RIAA. The band's second album, "Supermodel", was released in 2014 and reached the third spot on the Billboard 200. The lead single from the album, "Coming of Age", reached the eighth spot on the Alternative Songs chart.
Foster the People was nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2011 in the category "Best New Artist". The group was also nominated for the MTV Video Music Awards in 2011 in the category "Best New Artist".
