BIOGRAPHY
Gary Richards, also known as Destructo, is an American DJ, producer, and entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of HARD Events, a concert and festival promotion company based in Los Angeles.
Richards began his career in 1990 by throwing parties in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1996, he launched his own skateboard clothing brand, Destructo, which was sold in 2006. In 2007, he founded HARD Events, a concert and festival promotion company.
In 2011, HARD hosted the first HARD Summer festival at the Los Angeles State Historic Park, attracting approximately 15,000 people. The festival was well-received and was expanded in 2012 to the Pomona Fairplex, attracting approximately 30,000 people. In 2013, the festival was expanded again and held at the Fairplex, attracting approximately 40,000 people. In 2014, the festival was expanded once more and attracted approximately 50,000 people.
In 2015, HARD hosted the first Day of the Dead festival at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, attracting approximately 60,000 people. In 2016, the festival was expanded and held at the Fairplex, attracting approximately 75,000 people. In 2017, the festival was expanded again and attracted approximately 100,000 people.
In 2018, HARD hosted the first Holy Ship! festival, which took place on a cruise ship. The festival attracted approximately 2,000 people. In 2019, the festival was expanded once more and held on a cruise ship, attracting approximately 4,000 people.
Richards is also known for producing albums for artists such as Gwen Stefani, No Doubt, and Blink-182. He has also worked on albums for DJ AM, Steve Aoki, and Skrillex.
