BIOGRAPHY
David Kane, born on January 3, 1957 in Detroit, is an American music producer, singer, and bassist.
Born and raised in Detroit, David Kane began his musical career as a bassist in various local clubs. He later studied composition and music production at Wayne State University. Kane then worked as a producer and sound engineer for several renowned artists such as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, and George Clinton.
In 1981, David Kane formed the R&B/funk group D-Train with singer James Williams. The group achieved success with singles such as "You're the One for Me", "Keep on", "Something's on Your Mind", and "Music". Kane left the group in 1985 to focus on his production career.
Subsequently, David Kane founded his own label, Kane Records, in 1990. The label released various R&B and hip-hop albums, including Kane's solo albums "No Turning Back" (1991) and "Rising to the Top" (1993).
As a producer, Kane has worked with numerous artists such as Marvin Gaye, Esham, and the group X-Clan. He has also served as executive producer for several television series such as "New York Undercover", "The Wire", and "The Shield".
In 2010, David Kane published his autobiography, "The Life and Times of a Music Mogul", detailing his career and experiences with some of the biggest names in music.
Currently, David Kane resides in Los Angeles with his wife and their three children.
