Asher Monroe (born Asher Dov Rosen on October 30, 1988) is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. He is best known for his single "Here with Me" as well as being a member of the boy band V Factory. Early Life Monroe was born on October 30, 1988, in Arlington, Virginia, to Jewish parents. He has an older sister named Elizabeth. Monroe began his musical journey at the age of 5 when he started taking piano lessons. At the age of 8, he began taking singing lessons and joined his first choir. In high school, Monroe was a member of the school choir as well as the drama club. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for music and performance. Career After high school, Monroe moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. In 2009, he signed with Universal Republic Records and released his first single, "Sushi". The song was featured on the MTV reality show The Hills and experienced moderate success. In 2010, Monroe was chosen to be a part of the boy band V Factory. The group released their first single, "Love Struck", which reached number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group's self-titled debut album was released in 2011 but did not have much success, and the group was eventually dropped by their record label. In 2012, Monroe decided to pursue a solo career and released his first EP, Ashes & Roses. The lead single, "Here with Me", reached number 22 on the iTunes Pop chart. Monroe has since released two other EPs, Water & a Word (2013) and Crazy (2014). In addition to his music career, Monroe has also appeared in a few films and television shows, including the Nickelodeon show Victorious and the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
