BIOGRAPHY
Miami Sound Machine is a Cuban-American music group formed in 1975 in Miami, Florida. Originally, the group consisted of Gloria Estefan (lead singer), Emilio Estefan (producer and Gloria's husband), and their percussionist friend Enrique García. Over the years, the group has experienced several member changes, but Gloria and Emilio have remained constant.
The group began recording albums in 1977, but it wasn't until 1985 with the album "Primitive Love" that the group experienced its first commercial success. This album included the worldwide hit "Conga", which catapulted Miami Sound Machine into the spotlight. The group continued to achieve success throughout the 1980s and 1990s, making Gloria Estefan an international superstar.
Officially separated in 2000, Gloria and Emilio continued to work together under the name "The Estefans". They have produced several albums and shows together, and even opened their own museum in Miami. Gloria has also continued her solo career, releasing several popular albums.
In 2018, Miami Sound Machine was inducted into the "Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame."
