BIOGRAPHY
Isaac Hayes was an American musician, actor, and producer. He is best known for his work in the soul and funk genres, as well as for voicing the character "Chef" in the animated television series South Park. Hayes was born in Covington, Tennessee, and began his musical career as a session musician in the 1960s. He released his first solo album, Hot Buttered Soul, in 1969, and found critical and commercial success. The soul, R&B, and pop fusion of the album established Hayes as a versatile artist, and he began to experiment with different musical styles in his subsequent albums. Hayes' foray into film and television began in the 1970s, when he composed the score for the film Shaft. He went on to compose the music for several other films, including Truck Turner and I'm Gonna Get You Sucka. Hayes also had a successful acting career, appearing in films such as Escape from New York and The Rock. In addition to his work in music and film, Hayes was also politically active and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
