Fleetwood Mac

BIOGRAPHY

Fleetwood Mac is a British rock band formed in 1967. Considered one of the most influential bands of the 1970s, they have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The band was ranked 25th in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. The band was formed by guitarist Peter Green, bassist John McVie, and drummer Mick Fleetwood. They were later joined by guitarist Jeremy Spencer and pianist Christine McVie. The group found immediate success with their debut album, Fleetwood Mac (1968), which reached number one in the UK. In the mid-1970s, the band faced challenges due to drug and personal issues. Green left in 1970 and Spencer in 1971, with guitarists Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch taking their places. The band experienced a resurgence with the album Rumours (1977), certified diamond in the US and selling over 40 million copies worldwide. This was followed by the platinum-certified album Tusk (1979). In the 1980s, Fleetwood Mac saw success with the platinum-certified album Mirage (1982) and the diamond-certified Tango in the Night (1987), selling over 15 million copies worldwide. Although the group disbanded in 1995, they reformed in 1997 with guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and singer Stevie Nicks. They released the album The Dance (1997), certified diamond in the US, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Further albums including Say You Will (2003) and Fleetwood Mac Live (2009) were also certified platinum and gold in the US, respectively. Their release Extended Play (2013) was certified gold in the UK. Fleetwood Mac was ranked 25th in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest artists of all time and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
